Yokohama F. Marinos set to sign Cruzeiro wonderkid: 19-year-old forward Tevis close to deal

[Yokohama FM] Brazilian super prospect incoming — Marinos on the verge of landing 19-year-old FW Tevis

J1 side Yokohama F. Marinos are set to complete the signing of 19-year-old Brazilian forward Tevis Gabriel, currently owned by Brazilian giants Cruzeiro.

The deal, which has been reported by local Brazilian media since late last year, is now entering its final stages, with an official announcement expected soon. Tevis is seen as the replacement for Asahi Uenaka, who moved permanently to Gamba Osaka, and as a new attacking trump card for the Marinos.

Tevis Gabriel: a next-gen Brazilian winger

A pacey, high-ceiling talent produced by traditional powerhouse Cruzeiro.

Profile:
Born January 28, 2006 (19 years old). Stands at 180cm (some reports say 184cm). A wide attacker comfortable on both feet.

Last season:
In 2025, he was loaned to Athletico Paranaense in Brazil’s second division, making 15 appearances in all competitions. After gaining senior experience, he returned to Cruzeiro — and now looks set for a move to Japan.

Contract details:
According to local outlets (including Itatiaia), the deal is a 1.5-year loan with a buy option worth just over ¥500 million. Talks reportedly nearly collapsed at one point, but Yokohama FM ultimately pushed it over the line.

Cruzeiro lining up a Tevis loan to a Japanese club, details inside

So it really is a loan with option for Tevis. He’s only 19 — bit worried whether he’s truly ready, though. Apparently he shares the same agent as Jean.

287: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 05:55
If he’s a left winger I’m hyped, but looks like he mainly plays on the right too…

Yeah, more right-sided. Still wonder why we don’t just target a pure left winger.

290: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 06:15
He’s super young so adaptation is a question, but the potential is huge. Fast, skilful, decent size. Doesn’t look as one-footed as Kondo, so he might actually suit the left better. Maybe even fun as a free-roaming CF like Élber was.

292: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 06:34
Man, Tevis is rapid. At 180cm his stride is massive, but he’s got sharp acceleration too. Pure talent. 2025 clips show him fine on the left as well, so probably counted as a two-side option.
Big questions: defence, environment, communication.

Newer clips show him on the left more, sharper too. But weirdly his last appearance was just one minute in August. Probably injured though.

Tevis feels like he’ll be a monster one day. You can tell even at 19. Whether that happens at Marinos is another story.

Like Kaká going to Yamagata for “study abroad”, huh.

304: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 07:54
Thought we’d sign a foreigner instead of Tevis, but looks like it’s actually him. For a 19-year-old with no J-League experience, it’ll take time. Maybe six foreign loanees again?

305: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 07:57
His style feels like a mix of Élber, Érik, and San-chan. Don’t overhype him, but I like how he plays.

326: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 09:31
According to Alberto Shimano, Tevis’ contract with Cruzeiro runs until end of 2026. Does that mean next year’s loan fee is required and he can’t come free?

327: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 09:36
>>326
No way Brazil gives out that kind of sweetheart deal. If he were going free, they’d just freeze him for a year.

345: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 10:41
If Tevis joins, that’s signing number eight. Probably no double-digit window then. One more at most — DM or Ad return, or maybe an In-house loan. Keep Kinyó and Jean at all costs.

347: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 10:46
>>345
Would be perfect, but yeah, Kinyó and Jean worry me. Like Hiroshima losing Tanaka…

406: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 16:22
Did they dump Yan Matheus’ fee into Tevis? Unknown talent, so starting with a loan makes sense.

407: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 16:30
Foreign registration limit is 5 per match but unlimited ownership, right? If everyone stays and Tevis joins, two guys overflow. Oshima’s management skills will be tested.

412: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 16:40
Tevis, 19 years old, €3m valuation. Dream fuel.

422: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 17:10
Really excited for Tevis. Young attacker, but what about his mentality? Will he defend properly?

432: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 17:50
>>422
That’s the worry. Late last season, pressing from the front led to better attacks. If Tevis doesn’t defend, the back line might just die again. “Attack makes up for it” football is over.

428: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 17:37
Next season basically depends on Tevis. If he’s good, we buy. If not, we’re back shopping for a ready-made winger.

429: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/30 17:38
Apparently after a coaching change he stopped getting minutes entirely, so fitness should be fine.

560: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/31 07:30
Hope Tevis smashes it in J-League, helps Marinos, then gets sold big to Europe. Same for Japanese youngsters. That cycle would be perfect.

563: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/31 07:55
>>560
We said the same about Yan Matheus. Financial return wasn’t huge, and while good, he wasn’t exactly “super”. Don’t overexpect.

569: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/31 08:20

23: 2nd in assists.
24: 4th despite congested schedule.
ACL final: goal + assist.
That’s super enough.

589: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/31 09:38
Buy option after loan is ¥400m? That’s massive. More than Hutton.

728: Anonymous Fan 2025/12/31 20:41
Youth stats: 46 games, 23 goals, 15 assists. Classic pattern — great in youth, stuck at senior level. Let’s see if a new environment helps.

Yokohama F. Marinos Fan Reactions

Both Jijo and Tevis are development slots. Miyachi is the “romance” pick, so the right side feels thin.

66: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/02 19:02
>>63
Even with limited results, Tevis’ ceiling screams instant starter, maybe even ace. I doubt they’ll sign another winger who blocks his minutes.

65: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/02 18:56
Honestly, Tevis feels like someone who shouldn’t even be coming to J-League. Absolute freak.

67: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/02 19:04
Would be amazing if he’s a monster, but remember — he’s still a youngster. The loan itself shows the club isn’t 100% sure.

68: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/02 19:07
Not official yet. But if he comes, let’s just enjoy the transition season.

69: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/02 19:36
Top-tier raw material, but no top-flight results yet. First overseas move too. Don’t expect miracles until maybe 26–27.

308: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/05 12:28
TEVIS INCOMINGGG

310: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/05 12:36
He followed Marinos on Insta and posted an airport pic. Reveal at the new-season event?

312: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/05 12:39
Sounds like it’s done. Hyped.

314: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/05 12:46
Kakiuchi saying “probably soon” was about Tevis, right?
Also, has Sakoi coach even been officially announced yet?

315: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/05 12:48
Seven foreign players if Tevis joins… Jean and Kinyó feel shaky.

343: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/05 17:13
If Tevis is left WG, fine. But if he’s really right-only, the left side is thin. Wish Tsubaki or Tsukui could return, budget permitting.

415: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/06 15:02
Kinyó and Deane extensions LET’S GO

419: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/06 15:05
If Jean and Tevis share an agent, maybe there’s a package timing thing.

425: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/06 15:10
>>419
Worst case, Jean’s sale funds Tevis. Probably what Cruzeiro wanted.

429: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/06 15:12
Jean probably leaves. Sad, but same agent logic — “raise Tevis next”. Relationship-wise, not bad.

472: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/06 16:51
If Tevis is basically done, Jean’s exit feels inevitable. Seven foreign slots is a lot.

481: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/06 17:09
Tevis can apparently play CF and is good in the air, but not the hold-up type like Tanimura. If Tanimura gets injured, we’re in trouble.

494: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/06 17:47
Cruz, Kinyó, Tevis — all look happier on the right. Guess Tevis goes left?

Agree they’re cooking, but hope it’s not all just Nishino doing everything. If it is, and he goes, things could drop off. Guess we trust Suzuki.

586: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/07 06:31
Shimano says Tevis is done. Even with seven foreigners, I’d like Jean to stay.

21. Missed sitters but could do anything from range. Never thought he’d flop out of Gamba like that though.

Sponichi article confirms it.

Same generation as Noguchi and Mochizuki. So young.

700: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/08 07:20
Excited for Tevis, but won’t Yuri lose minutes? Feels like a loan coming. And what’s happening with Jean? Radio silence…

Same agent as Jean, so announcements should come soon.

705: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/08 08:58
Current foreign squad is pure extroverts. Is Tevis one of the lads or a shy kid?

Crooks is here, so it’ll be fine.

708: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/08 09:27
If no announcement today, they’ll unveil him at the new-season event.

726: Anonymous Fan 2026/01/08 13:59
Hope Tevis is a Mitoma-type dribbler who doesn’t stare at the ball.
