England remain unbeaten and unbreached in the qualifiers, beating Serbia through goals from Saka and Eze to extend their perfect start to seven straight wins.

England kept their perfect defensive record intact in the UEFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers with a 2–0 win over Serbia on Matchday 9.
The Three Lions, already the first team in Europe to secure qualification after six straight victories, named a strong lineup again with Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka starting.

The breakthrough came in the 28th minute. Declan Rice delivered an outswinging free-kick from the right, and although the Serbian goalkeeper punched it away, Nico O’Reilly picked up the loose ball on the edge of the box. His deflected effort rolled to the right inside the area, where Saka smashed in a sharp left-footed volley to give England the lead.

England controlled the match but struggled to find a second goal—until stoppage time. In the 90th minute, after Jude Bellingham immediately won back possession, he drove through midfield and released Phil Foden, who threaded a pass to Eberechi Eze on the left side of the box. The substitute struck first-time to seal a valuable 2–0 victory.

England remain unbeaten and still yet to concede in the qualifiers.
They travel to face Albania on the final matchday on the 16th, while Serbia host Latvia.

“Social Media Reactions”

  • Imagine being able to bring on Bellingham, Foden, AND Eze off the bench. That depth is just ridiculous lol.
  • It took a while, but all those youth development changes England made in the late 2000s really paid off.
  • England and France are so stacked it’s unreal. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if that ends up being the World Cup final next year.
  • Well, assuming the Round of 16 seeding doesn’t screw things up.
  • England’s attacking depth is insane, but defensively they’re still not on the same level.
  • Banger. 20 goals scored and 0 conceded in 7 games is actually insane, doesn’t matter who’s in the group.
  • Have England ever put up numbers like this before? Legit asking.
  • They’ve gone unbeaten in qualifying before, but “perfect” like this? Don’t think so. Last cycle was 10 games, went 8-2-0 with 39 scored and 3 conceded — probably their best, but that group had San Marino and Andorra lol.
  • And yeah, we look way quicker on the ball this time.
  • You reckon they can actually go all the way at this World Cup? Those are scary numbers, man.

Arsenal Forum

  • Eze at LW once Ødegaard’s back, easy call.
  • But man, Trossard’s been cooking. That’s gonna be some elite competition (football gods, no more injuries please).
  • Bench Trossard is literally Peak Trossard™
  • Chip-on-his-shoulder Trossard just bullies defenders for fun lol.
  • Angry raccoon mode = +5 to all stats. Dude goes feral.
  • TBF he’s been balling out as a starter recently too, while bench Martinelli has been hitting different this season.
  • Up until these last couple games they were basically tag-teaming it. Whoever started was fine, then the 70’ supersub would come on and absolutely cook.
  • So yeah… the strat is: start Eze, then flip a coin at halftime to decide who gets the “power-up” sub. 🤣

  • Why the hell is Lee Dixon waffling on about Foden’s 5-yard pass like it’s divine intervention, and completely ignoring Ebs’ filthy finish?
  • Edit: Bro, Gabriel Clarke just asked him if “Foden’s pass was the key to the goal” too. What the hell is ITV smoking tonight? 😂
  • Thought I was losing my mind for a sec. It was a basic pass and they’re acting like Eze didn’t just murder the net.
  • Even the official England account tweeted “Foden puts it on a plate for Eze” lmao.
    His PR team moves different.
  • Dixon loves Foden, man. Arsenal legend, sure — but he’s a City enjoyer deep down.
  • Funniest part? Most City fans swear he slags them off more than any other pundit.
  • Honestly think he’s just a grumpy old bloke who complains about every match he watches.
Tbf, sitting next to Sam Matterface for 90 minutes would turn me into a hater too.
  • Especially wild considering Bellingham’s pass was the harder one by miles.
  • Swear 90% of Dixon’s commentary was about the pass 😂
    What the hell was that?
  • He’s been glazing Foden all game for no reason.
  • Probably because he’s a City fan, lol.
  • He literally grew up supporting City.
  • Still does, no doubt. But he should be bigging up Eze too, man’s grafted his whole career.
  • Whenever I see Lee on NBC he’s bending over backwards to pretend he has zero bias toward the club he played for over a decade.
  • Yet he has no hesitation to drool over City players.
  • He’s a quarter black just like Ryan Giggs. Don’t think they get put into the black player category.
If anyone needs it spelled out:
    Foden/Palmer/Kane = White English lads.
    Eze/Saka/Bellingham = Black English lads.
Do some people — the ignorant ones — carry a tiny bit of bias over who “should” start for England?
    Yeah, absolutely.
  • Pretty sure Palmer’s dad or maybe his grandad is Black, so technically he’s part-Black too lol.
  • Yeah, he’s a quarter Black — same deal as Ryan Giggs.
Doesn’t usually get thrown into the “Black player” category though.
